Stacks of staples were broken into varying sizes from full stacks about 12cm high down to single staples. These stacks were then stood up and arranged over a period of 40 hours. The whole scene looks like that of a downtown city. Check out the video!

The Art of Mark Evans

Mark-Evans

Check out the art of Mark Evans. Art doesn’t get much more primal than etching animal skins with a big knife.
I don’t do brushes, I can’t paint…
I just play with knives

Ghost in the Machine

In this portfolio of art work title “Ghost in the Machine“, imaginative painter and sculptor Erika Iris Simmons shows us several portraits of famous musicians made from cassette tape.
In this series I showcase a number of portraits of musicians made out of recycled cassette tape with original cassette. Also included are portraits made from old film and reels. The idea comes from a philosopher’s (Ryle) description of how your spirit lives in your body. I imagine we are all, like cassettes, thoughts wrapped up in awkward packaging. : )

The Art of Alexa Meade – Illusion and Reality

Posted By: Whollys Staff Filed Under: Art

alexa-meade-art1

Alexa Meade is a 23-year-old artist based in the Washington, DC.
Alexa has invented a painting technique that makes 3 dimensional space look flat, blurring the lines between illusion and reality. Typically a painting is an artist’s interpretation of the subject painted onto another surface. In Alexa’s paintings, she creates her artistic interpretation of the subject directly on top of the subject itself. Essentially, her art imitates life – on top of life. By wrapping her subject in a mask of paint, she skews the way that the core of the subject is perceived.

She uses humans as some of her objects, paints on them and gives them the look of an actual oil painting!
